PADUCAH — Cassidy’s Cause Therapeutic Riding Academy is a non-profit organization that provides equine assisted activities and therapies to people with disabilities. Their mission is to help people grow and develop with help from their horses.
According to the National Institute of Health therapeutic horse riding provides riders with several physical and psychosocial benefits including:
- Improved motor function
- Improved core strength
- Improved self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-presence
- Feelings of freedom, independence, and competency
Most non-profits cannot function without help from the community, and right now Cassidy’s Cause is looking for volunteers that can help them in every aspect of their program.
You don’t have to have experience with horses or people with disabilities to volunteer, and you will be trained on how to care for both the horses and the riders. Cassidy’s Cause holds a volunteer orientation class on the second Monday of every month. The next class will be held on Feb. 12.
