MCCRACKEN COUNTY — A man accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend through a school app has been fired from McCracken County Schools.
"I wanted to let you all know that Stacy Harper is no longer an employee of McCracken County Schools. His employment was terminated on August 12, 2024," McCracken County Schools Director of Public Relations Jayme Jones wrote in an email on Thursday.
Harper was arrested Aug. 7 and charged with harassing a former girlfriend on school communications app ClassDojo, according to the Carlisle County Sheriff's Office. Just an hour after being released on bond, he allegedly reached out to his former girlfriend and was arrested again.
Harper was found guilty of violating Kentucky emergency protective orders/domestic violence orders and was sentenced to serve jail time on four occasions from 2011 to 2014, according to the Carlisle County Sheriff's Office.
Harper was suspended with pay pending the district's internal investigation and related legal proceedings.
Harper faces two charges — one count of harassing communications, which is a misdemeanor — and second-degree forgery, which is a class D felony. He pleaded not-guilty to both charges. A grand jury is set to hear the case and decide whether to indict Harper on the forgery charge later this month.
