METROPOLIS, IL — The Massac Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is a foundation dedicated to helping the Massac Memorial Hospital financially. The Auxiliary uses funds to purchase needed equipment for different departments in the hospital.
The Auxiliary has been around for 71 years, and it functions from yearly dues, fundraisers, and sales from the Forget Me Not gift Shop located just inside the main entrance of Massac Memorial Hospital.
However, during the month of December, the Auxiliary will benefit from the gas sales on pumps 11 and 12 at Acee’s Food and Fuel in Metropolis. The fundraiser is part of Acee’s Food and Fuel’s Give Back Program.
At the end of the month, the Auxiliary will receive a check with a portion of the proceeds from the sales on those two pumps.
Also, through Saturday, Dec. 16, the Auxiliary is selling tickets for a vintage wooden Christmas sleigh filled with products, gift cards, and gift certificates from local businesses. The prize package is worth more than $875. Tickets can be purchased at the Forget Me Not Gift Shop, at Creations the Florist located at 600 Ferry Street, or by reaching out to any of the Auxiliary board members.
The drawing for the sleigh will be held on Sunday, Dec. 17.
The Auxiliary also says that while they are always in need of more revenue, they are also in need of volunteers to help keep the gift shop open. Prospective volunteers will need to fill out a two page form and undergo a background check. Forms are available at the gift shop.
