SIKESTON, Mo. — Early on August 21, Sikeston DPS Officers responded to the 300 block of Kramer for a reported structure fire.
According to Sgt. Tyler Rowe, first arriving officers noted there was smoke coming from the roof line and were notified that the caller was still inside the residence, seeking shelter in the basement of the house.
Officers were able to force an exterior door open and could hear someone calling for help from inside the residence. Fire Division Personnel arrived on scene and immediately began searching for the occupant of the residence — two victims were located and were successfully rescued from inside the residence.
According to Sgt. Tyler Rowe, the two individuals rescued from inside the residence were then turned over to EMS units on scene and were transported to hospitals due to smoke inhalation. Both victims sustained serious injuries but are currently in stable condition, and as such their names are not being released at this time.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation with the assistance of the
State Fire Marshall’s Office.
