MARSHALL COUNTY, Ky. — Marshall County Judge Kevin Spraggs has issued an executive order prohibiting burning within Marshall County due to dry conditions.
The document notes that Marshall County is "experiencing drought conditions which may lead to extra ordinary fire hazards" before highlighting that "wood/brush fires quickly exhaust the firefighting resources of the county."
Given that weather forecasts "indicate a prolonged dry period with no expected significant precipitation," the document states that these conditions "endanger the public health and safety and threaten the natural resource of the Commonwealth."
The order states that in response to these conditions:
- All burning within the County is prohibited
- All local law enforcement personnel shall enforce this order
- Any person who violates the ban established in this order shall be subject to penalties
- This order is now in effect and will remain in effect until further ordered.
