PADUCAH — Labor day is almost here, and Paducah is getting ready to celebrate!

At 9:30 a.m. on September 2, the Western Kentucky Labor Day Committee's Labor Day Parade will commence. The theme of this year’s parade is The Struggles of Our Past Create Our Future.

According to the city, the parade route will close in stages by 8:30 a.m., with the staging area for parade entries and surrounding streets closing at 6:30 a.m. The parade will follow Broadway starting at 2nd Street and head west on Broadway until it disbands at Fountain Avenue/17th Street, and streets will remain closed until the parade safely passes.

Labor Day festivities — including food vendors, music, and activities — will continue from 11 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m. at Carson Park. For more information about this event, click here.

  • City Hall and other city offices will be closed.
  • The garbage collection schedule will not change for Labor Day week, though the compost facility will be closed on Labor Day.
  • There will not be curbside recycling collection on Labor Day, instead city crews will collect recyclables Tuesday, September 3 for Paducah households that have recyclables collected on the first and third Mondays of the month.
